A MOROCCAN ADVENTURE

Our birding trip to Morocco started in the Agadir area before motoring South to the Desert areas of Guelmin spending some time on route at Soussa Massa. The next and last leg of our short trip involved climbing the tortuous roads of the High Atlas to reach the ski resort at Oukaimeden.

In excess of 142 species were seen with a personal 'lifer' tally of 32. Notable species seen which are not mentioned later were Thekla Lark, Brown-necked Raven, Cirl Bunting, Tristam's Warbler, Crag Martin, Brown-throated Sand Martin, Long-legged Buzzard and Cream-coloured Courser.

My choice for the most memorable event of the trip, apart from the driving skills (or lack of) of the Moroccan drivers, was seeing at close quarters the 500 or so Black Kites spiralling down to roost during the early evening.
