Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler
We decided to go see this three Star Mega even though Birdquides was not operating correctly and therefore could not confirm whether it had survived the night ( what a time for a website breakdown!)
We were greeted by a good sunny day but with a very strong biting wind . Not ideal conditions to see a bird which under good weather spends most of its time remaining concealed low down in vegetation.
As expected, only flight views were had----one in nearly three hours!
The images below are library pictures which illustrate its key ID features.
This bird is trivially called PG Tips--based on its initials and one of its key features of having white tips to its tail feathers!
Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler, Burnham Overy Staithe.
A very rare Autumn vagrant which breeds in Mongolia
A surprise awaiting some of the Twitchers retuning from viewing PG Tips!!
