Snowy Owl
Never thought I see a Snowy Owl in Norfolk. Must be the first easily twitchable one since 1991.
At Thornham point on 10th March. Too distant for photos but did see a snow bunting on the walk back( approx 1 hour) to Tichwell.
Photo below . What one looks like if you are lucky enough to get near, this one taken in Canada in 2009

FINLAND, KUUSAMO, MARCH 2015 Great Grey Owls
The following images are a photographic record of a trip to Finland in March 2015. Based at Kuusamo and Oulo we saw in addition to the photographed species--Black Grouse , Willow Grouse, Three Toed Woodpecker, Pine Grosbeak and White-tailed Eagle.
This trip was extremely arduous and should not be undertaken unless you are Young(at heart), fit to walk long distances without collapsing, capable of withstanding temperatures of minus fourteen( at times without gloves) and have the ability to operate with very little sleep. In addition the Expert use of Snow Shoes, Nordic Skis and Snowmobiles would be useful.
The Results are always worth overcoming Adversity.
