Golden Eagle,Kuusamo Finland, March 2015

One of a nesting Pair of Golden Eagles tempted to land by the sight of a Winter- coated Mountain Hare, Finland

The Male fed for about 20 Minutes followed by the Female some half hour after.

The previous day the bait  used was a Red Squirrel in its grey winter coat.
Unfortunately the animal was not securely anchored. So on this occasion the Female was fed whilst on the eggs.

Because of the difficulties of reaching the viewing area for the Eagles the more mature members of the group were transported to the summit in a 'boat" towed by a Ski-Doo Sled ( Skiddou).

Grey Heron fishing for Pike

Whilst waiting for the Short-eared Owls to appear an intense flapping noise drew our attention to the small dyke running North of and parallel to Moreton's Leam.
