SHETLAND-----A TOP BIRDING EXPERIENCE

The following images illustrate a superb birding week in the Shetland Islands. A total of 88 species were seen which included 20 additions to my year list and 5 to my British Life list.
The weather was not typical for the time of year with clear blue skies for the the first 3 days followed by one day of total rain then one night of force 8 to 9 gales!.Since the whole week was served with South easterlies of varying strengths the suppply of migrants was most welcomed.
