The week started well with a visit to Nene Washes to seek out a Purple Heron. Although no decent photographs were obtained we ( Will Bowell and I) did manage to be within about 15 ft of the juvenile before it flew from one of the dyke.
The chance to see a juvenile Long-tailed Skua was taken with about another 50 people at Newton in Nottinghamshire. Reasonably good views were obtained as this flighty bird moved from one ploughed field to the next.
The week was rounded off with a visit to Tichwell to see, from afar , a juvenile Long billed Doiwitcher.
